The King of the Dudes
A bar named for a man who turned getting dressed into a sport.
Berry Wall, 1888
Evander Berry Wall was a New York dandy so immaculately dressed that in 1888 he was crowned the King of the Dudes after winning an impromptu fashion standoff on a chilly morning. He owned hundreds of ties, changed outfits five times a day, and never, ever blended in.
The spirit of the place
We took that same eccentric, impeccably-put-together energy and cranked it through a neon tube. Bold, maximalist, a little retro, never childish. A dive bar wearing a dandy's wardrobe — playful characters on the walls, cocktails with attitude, and a soundtrack turned all the way up.
The building
Our home at 19 King Street was once known as Gosha's House — a characterful old corner of Bristol with stories in its plaster. We kept the bones, painted the walls purple, and let the murals run wild. The "hidden gem" nickname isn't marketing; it's genuinely easy to walk straight past our door. That's rather the point.

"Dandy since 1888. Loud since forever."
— the Hey Dude house motto
